TEHRAN – Expediency Council Chairman Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani has said that the Iranian people will give a response to the enemies’ threats and sanctions with their massive participation in rallies marking anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution.
Iranian people will hold rallies across the country on the 22nd of the Iranian calendar month of Bahman (February 11) to commemorate the 33rd anniversary of the Islamic Revolution in 1979.
“The people will give a response to the threats and sanctions by the enemies of the Islamic system with a historic turnout for the 22nd of Bahman rallies,” Hashemi Rafsanjani stated at a meeting of the Expediency Council on Saturday.
He described the victory of the Islamic Revolution as a source of glory for Iran, Shiism, and Islam, adding, “The people’s heroic and massive presence on the scene will prove that the people’s revolutionary thought is still fresh and has not become outmoded 32 years after the Islamic Revolution.”
The turnout for rallies will show the depth of the people’s love for and loyalty to the revolution and the Islamic establishment, added Rafsanjani, who served as president for two consecutive terms (1989 to 1997).
He also called on the Iranian people across the country to turn out in large numbers for the demonstrations.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Hashemi Rafsanjani called on the organizers of the events commemorating the victory of the Islamic Revolution to organize events that befit the great status of the revolution so as not to provide the enemies with pretexts.
The mass media shoulder a great responsibility to prevent the history of the Islamic Revolution from being distorted and to present a true image of the achievements of the revolution, the veteran politician noted.
